ACM-W-CYPRUS successfully organized a networking event at Cyprus University of Technology! During the event women across different schools and universities in Cyprus came together for three inspiring talks:
- “The social obstacles and the glass ceiling: how can we move forward” by Argentoula Ioannou
- “Inspiring Women: The Mythbusters” by Irene Polycarpou.
- “What’s the gender of Technology? – Experiences and Lessons Learned” by Adriana Achilleos.
Short talks were also given for encouraging women to engage in the activities of ACM-W-CYPRUS and to remain active in tech-related professions.
During the event, Christina Vasiliou and Antigoni Parmaxi presented and encouraged women to register on Womenpower Platform (http://womenpowerproject.eu/), a community platform that brings together women mentors and mentees.
Finally, at the end of the event women had the opportunity to exchange their views on how to move further in the area of computing and machinery. Young women had the opportunity to receive support with regard to self-esteem and self-improvement from experienced women in the field!
